R.I.P. Kevin Austin – The Rock

We are very sad to hear that former Gas player Kevin Austin passed away on Friday night after a short battle with pancreatic cancer.

Kevin was an utter rock at the back and would literally run through walls for Ray Graydon, making 61 appearances in those 2 years.  It was apparently Ray’s Assistant Manager, John Still, who knew all about Big Kev and invited him for a trial in the summer of 2002, leading to a contract.

Our thoughts are with his family and friends at this sensitive time.

We’ll leave you with some beautiful words and first hand experience from former defensive colleague at Rovers, Anwar Uddin.
